Janet joined Russ Lyon Sotheby’s in 2011 when she and her partner Pat Simpson launched the Pennewell Simpson Group. Previously, she spent four years building a successful practice with the Matheson Team at RE/MAX Fine Properties. Janet was awarded the prestigious RE/MAX Chairman’s Club Award in 2010 and the RE/MAX Hall of Fame Award, earning over $1 million in commissions during her first three years with RE/MAX.
Prior to becoming a realtor, Janet had a successful career in financial services. She held senior positions at several major financial institutions on the east coast before relocating to Scottsdale in 2006 when she accepted a position as Chief Financial Officer for Home Equity Operations at Wells Fargo Bank.
Janet’s finance and business experience contribute to her ability to guide homeowners through the sometimes challenging process of buying, selling and financing their homes and she prides herself on developing relationships with her clients, not simply completing transactions. Both she and her partner Pat are committed to providing the highest level of service to their clients.
Janet, her husband, and teenage son live in DC Ranch and are avid golfers, love to travel and are active in their community. She volunteers with the PTO at Chaparral High School and at Family Promise, a local non-profit that helps homeless families get back on their feet. She attended Michigan State University, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University, an MBA from Drexel University, is a CPA and a licensed Realtor® in Arizona. She earned her CDPE, Certified Distressed Property Expert, designation in 2009.
Pat Simpson, Partner

Pat enjoys leveraging her extensive business and consulting experience to help her clients navigate the often-challenging process of buying, selling, and financing real estate. She believes it is important to build relationships with her clients, ensuring that she is there for them throughout their real estate transactions and beyond. Prior to becoming a realtor, Pat had a successful career in financial services in New York, including strategic management positions at Chase, and serving as Senior Vice President in Strategic Development at Equitable Life and AXA Financial. In 2006 Pat relocated to Scottsdale, where she ran a successful strategic development consulting practice.
Shortly after Pat joined Russ Lyon Sotheby’s in 2011, she and her partner Janet Pennewell launched the Pennewell Simpson Group. Both Pat and her partner Janet are committed to providing the highest level of service to their clients.
Pat lives in DC Ranch with her husband, and is the mother of 3 children one in college and two recent college grads. She and her husband enjoy hiking, golf, and travel.
Pat has a long history of community service. She currently serves on the Board of two Phoenix charities – Circle the City, and Family Promise of Greater Phoenix. She has chaired outreach events at St. Patrick’s Catholic Community in Scottsdale and served on the board of the Notre Dame Prep Mothers Guild in Scottsdale. Pat has a BA in Economics and psychology from Brooklyn College and an MBA from New York University. She is a licensed Realtor® in Arizona.
Larry Josephson
Realtor® – MBA
Larry has a diverse business background with over 20 years experience in banking and corporate finance. He also owned and operated a successful small business.
In 2006 he joined Amercon Realty Services, Inc. a boutique commercial real estate firm. In 2011 he joined Re/Max Fine Properties in Scottsdale as an Associate Broker. While there he represented a number of investors who were purchasing single family properties for rental and represented Fannie Mae on the sale of their foreclosed properties. In 2013 he joined Russ Lyons/Sotheby’s International Realty and Pennewell Simpson Partners.
Previously, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Seamen’s Bank for Savings in New York City. Earlier in his career he served as Senior Vice President for Capital Markets, Senior Vice President of Finance, and Vice President and Treasurer of the Philadelphia Saving Fund Society which was the largest savings bank in the country.
Prior to relocating to Arizona he owned and operated Foliograph Gallery in Washington, DC and Virginia, a five store art and framing retailer. Foliograph was the largest retailer of fine art posters in the DC area and framed in excess of 12,000 pieces a year for retail, corporate, and government clients.
He holds a BA in Political Science from Syracuse University and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Ashley Anixter
Residential Realtor®
Ashley is an Arizona native who has been around the real estate industry all of her life as part of her family’s real estate development company. She joined Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty in 2012 and has been part of Pennewell Simpson Partners since early 2013.
Prior to becoming a realtor, Ashley was a pediatric dental hygienist who devoted much of her time to working with those in need. She volunteers at local clinics including St. Vincent De Paul and Desert Mission. She continues to work with kids at AZ on the Rocks, an indoor climbing gym and volunteers as the Regional Coordinator for USA Climbing. Her work has given her a great sensitivity to client needs and a strong customer service ethic.
Ashley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Colorado and an Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene.
